It is hard to believe that Christmas time is here again. There has been a lot of excitement around the school these past few weeks as the students have finished up the first semester. I trust that the break from school will be a time of refreshment for all of you.
I want to thank all of your for your prayers and support. All of the faculty and staff greatly appreciate all that you do for us. A special “thank you” to those of you who purchased items for the school from our Amazon wish list. The teachers who received the items from their wish list were very excited. I would also like to thank those of you who have been making donations to help the Early Education Center raise money for a new playground.
There are a few important dates coming up that I wanted to make you aware of. On Monday, January 11, 2010, at 7:00 PM, there will be another prayer/praise celebration at the school. So many of us enjoyed this event over the summer that we thought it would be great to do it again. Our school has much to be grateful for this year! On Thursday, February 4, 2010, at 7:00 PM, there will be an all-school meeting. Randy Speck, Kent Darcie, and I will speak and be available for questions. It will be an important opportunity for all of you to hear the vision that we have for Macomb Christian. We are all busy making plans for next year and the next few years, and we want to share those with you. You will also be able to pick up re-enrollment information and a basic, tentative 2010-2011 school calendar. These will be two very exciting nights, and we want everyone to be a part of them
I pray that you all have a blessed Christmas!

Finishing Strong
This past week was a very busy week at MCS. The elementary students had a great time at the Christmas Shop. Each student had an opportunity to go down to the library and shop for Christmas presents. I saw many students walking back to class with their arms full of shopping bags. Many thanks to all of the parents that volunteered their time to help make the Christmas Shop such a success!
The seniors also had another pancake breakfast on Wednesday. The seniors were up bright and early to cook all of the pancakes and sausage. Many people came out to support them as they are trying to raise money to help with the cost of their senior trip.
The secondary students are busy finishing up the first semester. The high school students will start taking exams on Tuesday. Friday after school I saw many students rushing around turning in their assignments and extra credit that were due. The elementary students are busy getting ready for their Christmas concert on Tuesday. I love walking by the music room this time of year and hearing all of the Christmas songs.

December Is Here!
December has arrived along with some colder weather. I hope that all of you enjoyed the Thanksgiving holiday last week. It is truly a blessing to talk with people at MCS and to hear all the things they are thankful for.
This past Thursday evening we held our first Christmas concert for this year. All of the band students and the secondary choir students performed the songs they had been working on. Each of the groups performed a few songs that reminded us all of what the Christmas season is truly about. They also had some fun as well. I really enjoyed listening to all of the performances. It was evident that the students and Miss Hafemeister had worked hard in preparation for the concert.
The students and teachers are all hard at work finishing up the first semester. The elementary students will have the opportunity to do some Christmas shopping this week at school.

A Time to be Thankful
Over the past couple of weeks, the elementary students have been collecting food to donate to a local food pantry. As you can see, there was a lot of food donated. Thank you so much to those who donated items. It was incredible
to see how much food was brought in. Your generosity is greatly appreciated.
The seniors were busy this week getting ready for their play. It was great to see so many of you come out to show your support. I also enjoyed seeing the elementary students that were involved in the play. Mrs. Langer and her many volunteers worked hard to get everything ready. I know that it was a lot of work, but it seemed like everyone enjoyed working on the play.
I am sure that all of you are busy getting ready for Thanksgiving this week. I am truly thankful that God has chosen to bless Macomb Christian by allowing our ministry to continue. I am also grateful to all of you for your support of the school. So many of you help out around the school, and I want you to know that I appreciate everything that you do. May God bless all of you!

Another Great Week at MCS
It seems like the days go by so fast. This past Monday, the faculty and staff met together with Randy Speck to continue working on improving Macomb Christian. I would like to thank those of you that took the time to fill out the survey that Randy sent out. The information collected will be very helpful.
Friday afternoon the elementary students enjoyed playing games together. As a reward for all of the Box Tops they brought in, the elementary students spent the last hour of the day playing different board games in the gym. It was neat to walk around and see the different games that the students brought in. There were many games that I had never seen before. I had a fun time playing with some of the kids.

November Is Here!
Well, it is hard to believe that November is here already. This school year is going by so fast. This was another busy week at Macomb Christian.
The varsity volleyball team had an exciting week. They beat Merritt Academy on Wednesday night to advance to the district finals for the third year in a row. On Friday, the girls played Parkway in a tough game. Unfortunately, our team did not win, but the girls played an incredible game.
The seniors are continuing to practice The Wizard of Oz. They are busy practicing their lines and singing their songs. The sets are being worked on. Some of the elementary students are also getting involved. The dates of their performances are November 20-21. It should be a great time!

Community Service Project Day
This past Wednesday all of the 7th through 12th grade students were out in different communities helping out. The junior high students went to Central Detroit Christian where they were busy breaking up cement, lifting heavy boxes and bricks, and painting. The freshmen went to Grace Centers of Hope where they helped to prepare and serve lunch. The sophomores stayed in Warren cleaning up Martin Road and the school property. The juniors went to God's Helping Hand in Rochester Hills where they were busy sorting through clothes that had been donated. The seniors helped Habitat for Humanity as they are preparing their new warehouse. Throughout the day, I went around to all of the various sites. I was so excited to see our students helping others. It was incredible to see how much fun our students were having. I had one student tell me that they want to do it again in the spring. God blessed us with a beautiful day especially for the students who spent most of the day outside. I was so proud of our students for being willing to help out and do whatever was needed. As I stopped by the places, I had many people tell me how much help our students had been.
A big THANK YOU to all of you who helped drive and chaperone the students.

Gearing Up For A Busy Week
I hope that the students enjoyed their extra time off of school Thursday and Friday, and they are ready to come back for a busy week. It was great to see so many of you at school on Thursday and Friday for parent teacher conferences and the book fair. Thanks to all of you who volunteered your time at the book fair and the bake sale.
I am very excited for this coming week. On Wednesday, our secondary students will be out in the community doing different service projects. As Christians, we are called to help each other, so I am excited for our students to have an opportunity to give back. I can't wait to hear the stories from our students about their different experiences. Please be in prayer for this event.
It is hard to believe that this is the last week of October. As I look outside, it is beautiful to see all of the different colors. Please pray that God will continue to guide and direct MCS. I feel privileged to be apart of this ministry, and I greatly appreciate all of your support!

End of the First Quarter
I find it hard to believe that we have reached the end of the first quarter. This school year is going by so fast. I do love this time of year though! I love driving around and seeing the leaves on the trees changing color. It is a wonderful reminder of our incredible Creator that we serve.
Last Tuesday was another Tasty Tuesday at American Pie. All proceeds are going to help with the high school year-end trip. The elementary students are holding a contest with Box Tops for Education. Each box top that is brought in gives 10 cents back to the school so keep sending them in. There are a lot of updates and information given on the school website so make it a habit to check it out.
This Thursday and Friday we will be having parent teacher conferences. Elementary conferences are scheduled with the teacher. All of the secondary teachers will be available in the gym from 1:30-4:45 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday and then again from 9:00-11:30 a.m. on Friday. I hope to see you all there!

Another Busy Week at MCS
This past week Ms. Beck and I attended the ACSI convention in South Bend, Indiana. It was a great opportunity for us to be encouraged and challenged. We were able to meet people from many Christian schools and share ideas. It was incredible to be with over 1200 other people who are also working hard to make their Christian schools the places that God wants them to be.
On Wednesday the seniors hosted their first pancake breakfast of the school year. Many of you turned out to help support the seniors as they raise money for their trip. There will be more pancake breakfasts throughout the school year so be watching for those dates.
This Tuesday will be another "Tasty Tuesday." The high school student council will be hosting a fundraiser at American Pie at 12 Mile and Hoover. The money raised will be used to help off set the cost of the year end trip for the high school students. I hope to see many of you there!

October Is Here!
Wow! It is hard to believe that September is finished. This school year seems to be flying by. I had a great lunch on Wednesday with the 16 elementary students who completed the summer reading challenge. These students read 6 books over the summer from a variety of genres and wrote a short summary of each book. We had a great time on Wednesday eating lunch together and talking about books.
The varsity soccer team played an exciting game on Monday. Despite the cold, windy weather, they were able to win the game. The varsity volleyball team also had a victory on Thursday night. It was a great week for sports at MCS.
I hope that all of the students enjoyed their extra day off on Friday. The teachers spent the day learning from a curriculum taught by Jeff Myers. It was a very interesting seminar that I think many of them found beneficial. Hopefully, the students are all ready to come back to school!

September Is Almost Done
This week our seniors had the opportunity to do a service project. The senior class went to a local church to help with a program that brings public school students to the church to hear the gospel message. Our seniors went on Thursday when there were about 300 public school students in attendance. The seniors were able to interact with these kids and lead small group discussions. I hope that this is just the beginning. I would love to see our students get more involved in the community.
Mrs. Dubois' class finished reading The Boxcar Children with a special day this week. They enjoyed a special lunch on Wednesday. The students also made special projects that are on display in the library.
It is hard to believe that this week will be the end of September. I am so grateful that God has allowed MCS to be open for this school year. I love walking around the school and seeing all of the students busy working. I love walking into the library and seeing the elementary students take their AR quizzes. I love walking down the hallway and seeing the incredible artwork that our students have created. It is truly a blessing to be at MCS!

Another Great Week
Last week was another great week at MCS. We had our first fire drill of the school year on Wednesday morning. It was a beautiful day, so it seemed like the perfect day for a fire drill. I think that it might take all of us some time to remember what we are supposed to do during a fire drill.
On Thursday, I attended an ACSI (Association of Christian Schools International) district meeting. Sam Barfell, our regional director, came to Michigan to meet with the administrators from all of the Christian schools in Michigan. It was a great opportunity for me to meet other Christian school leaders and to share ideas. I was also able to learn about updates from ACSI and the services that they offer.
Thank you to those of you that have been helping out with the preschool playground. We have had volunteers digging out the grass underneath the swings so that wood chips can be placed there. I am grateful to those of you who are willing to help out wherever we need it. You help to make MCS such a great place!

Getting Ready for Another Week
We are finally approaching our first full week of school. After having three short weeks, it seems like everyone is getting into the routine of being back at school after having time off for the summer. I have really been enjoying the beautiful weather that we have had the past couple of weekends. It has been great to get outside and enjoy God's beautiful creation.
Friday was a busy day at school. We started the day with chapel. The elementary students enjoyed listening to Mr. Orner, and the secondary students were challenged by Mr. Speck. The first and second grade students had a fun afternoon making creation cupcakes. They even made one for me!
Many of you are familiar with Jeremiah 29:11. It is probably one of my favorite verses. It is very reassuring to me knowing that God has a plan for me. I was reading it recently and noticed that verses 12 and 13 are also very powerful. They say, "Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart." My prayer for the students and families of MCS is that all of us would be earnestly seeking God. I want us to remember all that God has done for our school. We should never stop praying.

Back To School
It is hard to believe that we are in our third week of school already. This school year is off to a great start! We had a great turn out at Big Boy last night. Thanks to all of you who came out to support our 4th -6th grade students as they were earning money for their year-end trip.
I continue to be amazed at the amount of prayer support I have. It is an incredible encouragment to me knowing that I am being prayed for and supported by so many of you. I truly appreciate it.
