I heard many people say how much they enjoy being able to ease back into the school year with several short weeks.  This weekend I have spent much time praying and asking God to continue to guide and direct Macomb Christian throughout this school year.  &lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;Ephesians 3:20-21 says, "Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations forever and ever! Amen."  We know that God is able to do "immeasurably" more than we could even think of. It was so great to see all of the students and their families at school Monday evening for the Back to School Event.  It was also great seeing everyone for the first day of school on Wednesday.  There was definitely a lot of excitement and anticipation for the first day of school.  The first few days of school seem to be going well as everyone transitions into a school routine.  &lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;The varsity sports teams have been practicing for several weeks now and the junior high teams will begin practicing tomorrow.  Please pray for the safety of our students as they practice and play in games.  Please also pray that the students would enjoy the opportunity that they have to play team sports and interact with their classmates.  &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;I am so grateful to God for the wonderful start to the school year we have had. This summer has been filled with many preparations to make this school year a great year.  We have been praying that God would continue to lead the ministry of Macomb Christian Schools.&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;Tomorrow evening is the big Back to School Event that you do not want to miss.  There are many different activities going on including an athletic meeting, senior parent meeting, opportunities to meet the teachers, and much more.  A detailed schedule is available on the school's website.  &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;The first day of school for students is Wednesday.  It is a half day of school so everyone will be dismissed at noon.  The high school student council will be providing donuts and juice in the gym before school to welcome all the students back.  &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;Please be praying for the teachers over the next few days as they are making final preparations for the start of the school year. When I think back over the past year, I cannot believe how quickly it went by.  I am also amazed at the ways that God continues to work at Macomb Christian.  This makes me very excited to see what God has in store for the future of MCS.&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;This last week of school will be very busy with many year-end activities.  The secondary students will be participating in "J-Term" this week where they will have the opportunity to take 2 different enrichment classes that are different than our typical curriculum.  This is a fun week that the teachers and students always look forward too.  &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;The 4th-6th grade students will be going on a trip to Mackinac on Wednesday and Thursday.  Please be praying that they would be safe and have a great time on their trip.  We will also be having Commencement for the class of 2011 this Friday at 6:30 pm.  Please pray for our seniors as they prepare for graduation and also as they prepare for the life that God has for them after MCS.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;As we finish up this school year, I cannot help but think to next year and the future of Macomb Christian Schools.  My prayer for MCS is that we would be united in allowing God to direct the plans for Macomb Christian. The students only have 3 more weeks of school left, but these weeks will be very busy with many different activities.  &lt;o:p&gt;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;Friday, May 13 is our annual Walkathon.  This is a great opportunity for our students to get outside, have fun, and raise money for the school.  Please be praying with me that we would have beautiful weather for this event, and that everyone would have a safe, fun time. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;Our elementary students will be participating in field day on Monday, May 16.  Field day will be in the afternoon from 1:00-3:00 pm.  Please be watching for more information to come home soon.  We will need help from several parents to make this event possible, so please let Mrs. Schnepper know if you are able/willing to help.&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;There will be 3 different assemblies to celebrate the hard work of the students this year.  The secondary honors assembly will be on Tuesday, May 10 at 7:00 pm in the gym.  The Early Education Center will have their achievement ceremony on Friday, May 20 in the gym. If you know anyone that you think might be interested in Macomb Christian, please tell them to stop by or bring them for a tour.  The teachers will be there from 6:00-8:00 pm to answer their questions and tell them more about MCS.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;Tuesday morning will be Kindergarten Round Up for all of our incoming kindergarten families.  This is an opportunity for the students and parents to visit the classroom and learn more about kindergarten from Mrs. Leslie.  Tuesday evening will be busy with the PTC having their monthly meeting at 7:00 pm in the library.  The elementary and junior high sports award night is also Tuesday evening at the school.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;On Wednesday some of our seniors will be taking the AP Calculus exam so please keep them in your prayers.  Our students and staff will have several opportunities to recognize the National Day of Prayer on Thursday.  Some of the secondary students have been planning a special chapel service for all of our students Thursday morning.  In the afternoon, all of our students and staff will be participating in a prayer walk around our neighborhood.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;Our students will be displaying the gifts and talents that God has given to them at our annual Celebration of the Arts this Friday.  The hallways are beginning to be filled with artwork that the students have been working on this school year, and the music classes are busy practicing for their performances. I always look forward to going to church, but I especially love going to church on Palm Sunday, Good Friday, and Easter Sunday.  I am reminded of the magnitude of Jesus's sacrifice for us and my response is overwhelming gratitude. &lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;This past Monday several of our high school students came to school very excited after attending the EACH Youth Rally last Sunday evening.  I enjoyed seeing so many of our families at the EACH Prayer Walk on Saturday.  It is so encouraging to me to see our students with such a passion for serving God and making a difference in their community.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;I am sure that this week will be another busy week at Macomb Christian.  Several of our high school students will be participating in the Oakland Christian School Math Competition tomorrow.  This is an exciting opportunity for our students to compete against other students.  The junior high students have been working hard on their science fair projects, and on Tuesday evening they have invited their parents to come see their hard work.  Don't forget that their is no school on Friday, April 22 or Monday, April 25. It is nice to have such warm weather on the weekend when we can really enjoy it.&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;The students finished up the Stanford Achievement Testing on Friday, and I know they are glad to be finished with it.  The spring sports teams are busy with practice and games when the weather cooperates.  Check out their schedule on the school's website and come support our teams.  &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;Tomorrow, the Parent Teacher Congress  (PTC) will be hosting Munchy Monday at Applebee's.  Be sure to print out the flyer before heading over to eat.  The flyer is available on the MCS website.  The spring play is this coming weekend and the students are very busy getting ready for it.  The performances are April 15 and 16 and will begin at 7:00 pm. &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;On Thursday, April 28th, MCS will host Dr. Doug Carpenter as he presents "Safe Homes." Last weekend several of our secondary students along with many parent volunteers went to the ACSI Music Festival in Illinois.  This is always a great opportunity for our students to be part of a "big" band and choir. I have heard wonderful things from the parents that were able to attend the concert last Saturday.&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;This past Friday night, the sophomore class sponsored the MCS Talent Show.  There were many great acts to watch throughout the show.  After the Talent Show, many people had the opportunity to put a pie in the face of some of our teachers.  &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;As we look ahead to the rest of March, many of our students will be involved in standardized testing.  The 8th grade class will be taking the EXPLORE test this Wednesday.  Other students will begin taking the Stanford Achievement Tests on March 28. Several Christian schools, including Macomb Christian, have been working together to see what we can do to be a part of the EACH movement.&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;10-for-10 is a movement designed by several administrators and Bible teachers in metro Detroit's Christian schools seeking to be engaged in the EACH movement.  The mission of 10-for-10 (www.10for10now.com) is simple: To present the Person of Truth, Jesus Christ, through people of Truth to a people who have not heard Him or seen Him expressed through the Christian community.  To do this we are aiming to reach 10,000 people with 10,000 hours of compassion and service and do all of this in 10 weeks.  &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;Some of our secondary students have been meeting to brainstorm some opportunities for our students to demonstrate service and compassion to our community.  We are looking for ways for our entire school to be involved.  One thing we can all do is pray. There are many different activities that will be going on during the month of March.  Please be in prayer for our junior class this week.  They will be taking the MME (Michigan Merit Exam) along with the ACT on March 1-3.  Pray that the students would do their best and not get too overwhelmed or frustrated.&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;This Saturday, March 5 is our annual auction.  This is always a fun event with lots of different activities.  The silent auction begins at noon and the live auction should start around 4:00. There have been a lot of activities going on at &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0"&gt;Macomb&lt;/span&gt; Christian, so I think that has made the time go by faster.  &lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;This past week was Spirit Week, and it seemed like the students really enjoyed all of the activities.  Each day I was amazed at the creativity of some of the costumes of our secondary students.  There was also a lot of excitement and energy at the pep rally today.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;Today was the &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_1"&gt;ACSI&lt;/span&gt; District Spelling Bee.  The students that represented &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_2"&gt;MCS&lt;/span&gt; were Isaiah &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_3"&gt;Florendo&lt;/span&gt;, Tabby &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_4"&gt;Maluzhinsky&lt;/span&gt;, Kendall &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_5"&gt;Mustola&lt;/span&gt;, Josh Evans, &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_6"&gt;Mikayla&lt;/span&gt; Mitchell, Nathan Lloyd, Nick Townsend, and Hannah Schultz.  These students won their class spelling bee here at &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_7"&gt;MCS&lt;/span&gt; to qualify for the district bee.  All of our students did an excellent job at the District Bee.  Hannah Schultz won 1st place for 8&lt;span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_8"&gt;th&lt;/span&gt; grade and Nick Townsend won 2&lt;span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_9"&gt;nd&lt;/span&gt; place for 7&lt;span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_10"&gt;th&lt;/span&gt; grade, so they were able to move on to the Spell-off.  Nick won 3rd place in the Spell-off and will move on to the &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_11"&gt;ACSI&lt;/span&gt; Regional Bee. The winners and runners-up from 5th - 8th grades competed against one another.  The winner of the school spelling bee was Nathan Lloyd and the runner-up was Shaina Rawls.  All of the students did an excellent job.  I was surprised with how many rounds the spelling bee went.  Nathan will represent Macomb Christian in &lt;i&gt;The Macomb Daily&lt;/i&gt; spelling bee in February.  Each class from grades 1 - 8 have a class winner that will compete in the ACSI spelling bee on January 28.&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;The junior class sponsored the Student/Faculty games on Friday evening.  This was a fun event for everyone in attendance.  The "jail" seemed to be very busy for most of the night.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;This coming Thursday, January 20, will be a very busy evening at MCS.  It will start at 6:15 pm with a time of prayer in the library.  Please come join us as we lift up our school and the students to God.  Starting at 7:00 pm in the gym will be the all parent, re-enrollment meeting.  This meeting will be an opportunity for you to hear about some of the exciting things that God has been doing at MCS.   At 8:00 pm Mrs. Scott will be meeting with all of the junior parents in 1A, and Mr. Myers will hold an informational meeting in the science lab for the junior high parents regarding the science fair. For the past several weeks the elementary students have been bringing in various toys and other items to put into shoe boxes that will be donated to Lighthouse Outreach Center in Roseville.  Friday during chapel, each of the elementary classes brought their shoe boxes down to the library, and then all of the elementary students prayed for the boys and girls who will be receiving the shoe boxes.  &lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;All of the music students are getting ready for their upcoming Christmas concerts.  The band students and secondary choir students will be performing this Thursday at 7 pm at Hope Community Baptist Church.  The elementary music and choir students will have their concert on Thursday, December 16 at 7 pm at Cornerstone Baptist Church.  &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;The elementary students will be shopping this week at the Christmas Shop put on by the Parent Teacher Congress. Next week, the Parent Teacher Congress (PTC) will be hosting the Christmas Shop to give our students an opportunity to purchase affordable Christmas gifts.  Further information about this is being sent home with the children.  &lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;All of students involved in music, choir, and band have been busy practicing for their upcoming concerts.  All of the band students along with the secondary choir students will have their concert on Thursday, December 9 at Hope Community Baptist Church. The students led the audience in saying the Pledge of Allegiance and singing, "God Bless America."&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;On Friday and Saturday, the class of 2011 and other students performed &lt;i&gt;Goldilocks on Trial&lt;/i&gt;.  The students have been working hard to get ready for the performances and they all did a great job.  This Wednesday, November 17, the seniors will be hosting another pancake breakfast.  All the proceeds from both events help to offset the cost of the senior trip.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;It seems like the students and teachers are both looking forward to a few days off school next week to celebrate Thanksgiving. This school year is going by so fast.  The first quarter is finished, the fall sports team have finished their seasons, and the winter sports teams are busy practicing.  &lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;There were a lot of activities in October.  I would like to thank all of you for coming to parent teacher conferences.  The teachers enjoyed having an opportunity to talk with each of you.  The National Honor Society inducted its new members on October 26.  Julia Herlein, Caleb Swiatek, and Hannah Wasil are the newest members of our NHS chapter.&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;November is going to be another busy month.  Our next Munchy Monday is this coming Monday at Pei Wei.  On November 12-13, the seniors will be performing &lt;i&gt;Goldilocks on Trial.  &lt;/i&gt;This is always a fun event and all proceeds go to help offset the cost of the senior trip.  I am sure that the students (and teachers) are looking forward to Thanksgiving break. Artwork from many of the students is on display to help with the "heroes" theme.  The elementary students were challenged to read 1,000 books in 4 weeks in hopes of earning a free recess.  The students actually read 2,134 books!!!  I think we were all amazed at how many books our students could read when challenged.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;Parent teacher conferences were held this past Thursday. It was encouraging to see so many families come.  The list of students that made the honor roll is posted by the front office. The elementary girls team played their last game of the season on Thursday.  The soccer teams were blessed with some beautiful weather this week for their games.&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;On Friday it was great to see all of the students in their Servathon shirts for celebration day.  The students watched a slide show in chapel with pictures from the Servathon, and they all enjoyed special treats during lunch time.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;Our next Munchy Monday is tomorrow at American Pie.  This week is also the last week of the 1st quarter. There were 4 other schools (Southfield Christian, Oakland Christian, Washtenaw Christian, and Franklin Road Christian) that participated in the Detroit Servathon.  The students of Macomb Christian were spread throughout the community.  &lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;The EEC students cleaned up around the school and went to visit our neighbors.  The lower elementary students stayed at school to clean up the gardens and pick up trash.  They also made cards to send to soldiers.  The upper elementary students went to a local nursing home to sing songs and take cards to the residents.  The junior high students cleaned up the gardens at a local nursing home and picked up trash along Martin Road.  The 9th and 11th grade students went to Bunert Schoolhouse to scrape the paint to get it ready to be painted.  Some of the students were able to help start painting the schoolhouse as well.  The 10th grade class went to 4 homes of Warren residents that needed some help with yard work.  The seniors went to Central Detroit Christian with the senior classes from the other schools.  Our seniors spent time organizing a warehouse.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;The Servathon was an incredible day.  I was able to spend time with each group throughout the day.  I loved seeing our students, teachers, and parents working side by side to help other people.  God blessed us with a beautiful day.  The students were able to accomplish a lot on all of the projects they worked on. The sports seasons are in full swing with all of the teams busy practicing and having games.  Last Monday was the first "Munchy Monday" at Leason's.  There is a new location each month so be watching your email for the details.&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;Friday night was the Friday Night Blast sponsored by the 9th grade class.  The students worked hard coming up with new ideas for this event and getting ready for it.  &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;This week will be another busy week.  On Thursday our school will be participating in the Detroit Servathon with 5 other Christian schools.  Our students, parents, and staff will be doing different service projects throughout the community. The first 2 weeks have been very busy weeks.  It seems like everyone is adjusting to the routine of coming to school again, but I think everyone was glad for the long weekend.  &lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;The first &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0"&gt;PTC&lt;/span&gt; (Parent Teacher Congress) meeting will be Tuesday, September 7 at 7:00 pm in the library.  This is a great opportunity for you to find out how to be more involved at the school.  Parents can also earn a continuing education hour simply for coming to the meeting.  &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;I have had several people ask me what the enrollment is for this year.  Currently, we have 170 K-12 students!  This is 11 more students than we had last year.  Whenever I think about this, I am amazed at how God has provided.  We prayed and asked God to send us more students and He has! This past week was a very busy week at Macomb Christian.  On Monday night we had our Back to School event.  This was a very exciting night with many different activities taking place.  It was great to see all of the families back in the school.&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;Wednesday was the first day of school for the students.  Excitement and anticipation filled the halls as students, parents, and teachers waited for the new school year to begin.  We have many new students this year, and I was encouraged to see how comfortable they felt at school by Friday afternoon.  &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;This week the students will be bringing home blue information folders regarding the Servathon.  I believe that this will be an amazing event and I am thrilled that MCS is going to be apart of it. I am so excited to have all of the students back in the hallways.  Everyone is working very hard getting ready for the big day.  The K-12 enrollment is currently around 150 students.  Everyday we are receiving phone calls with families interested in MCS so keep praying!  &lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;I wanted to tell you about 2 major events that will be happening soon.  The first is the Back to School Event on Monday, August 23.  This event is a combination of several different nights we typically have.  All new families should plan on attending the New Student Orientation at 6:30 in the library to learn more about the school.  Throughout the evening secondary students will be able to pick up their class schedules and locker assignments in the gym.  The revised Parent/Student Handbook will also be available that evening.  Meet the Teacher night will also take place during the event from 7:00-8:00 pm.  This is an opportunity for parents (and students) to meet all of the teachers, learn about each class, and ask questions.  More information on this event can be found on the school's website under the Back to School link.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;The second event is the Servathon on Thursday, September 23.  On this day, students, parents, and school employees  from 6 Christian schools will be coming together to serve the Detroit region.  Approximately 5,000 people will be out on this day serving and connecting.  We will need all of your help to make this event possible.  We need parent volunteers to help coordinate projects, drive students, serve with the students, and more. It is very strange to be at school without the teachers and students. I keep thinking back to last summer and all of the uncertainty that surrounded it for Macomb Christian.  I am so grateful that God is continuing to use the ministry of Macomb Christian to impact the lives of our students and community. &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;There is a lot of work going on at Macomb Christian so that we are ready for the 2010-2011 school year.  I have the privilege of meeting with all of the new families each school year.  I love talking with each of them and telling them about MCS. Commencement was held Friday evening.  The 2009-2010 school year is officially over.   The elementary students were very busy this week finishing up their projects and going on field trips.  They also participated in field day on Thursday morning, and their honors assembly was held Friday morning.&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;The secondary students enjoyed taking some new classes this week for J-Term.  I enjoyed walking around to see the projects the students were working on and to hear about the new things they were learning.  The boys in the martial arts class seemed to be having the most fun when they were trying to break boards on Friday.  &lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;As I was sitting at commencement Friday evening,  I was reminded of the miracle of that event.  There was a point last summer when we didn't know if Macomb Christian would graduate another class. It seems like the school year just started.  I know that the high school students were very relieved on Friday when they finished taking their last exam.  They seemed relieved as they left school that afternoon.  &lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;On Friday, all of the elementary students that reached their AR (Accelerated Reader) goal all four quarters were treated to a special lunch.  I am so proud of all of these students who worked so hard to achieve this.  I was glad to see that so many of the students had been busy reading throughout the school year.  I have challenged all students entering 1st - 6th grades to keep reading throughout the summer.  Information on the challenge will be coming home soon.  &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;This coming week is going to be a busy week.  There will be Kindergarten graduation, elementary and secondary honors assemblies, field day, year-end trips, J-term, and commencement.  I am sure there are other events that I have forgotten to mention. The seniors were in Florida all week for their senior trip.  The junior high students went to camp from Wednesday to Friday.  And the 9th-11th grade students went to Cedar Point and the Toledo Zoo on Thursday and Friday.  All of the students and chaperones seemed to have a great time on their trips.  The weather was beautiful, so all the activities could continue as planned.&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;The elementary students in Mrs. Dubois' class were very busy on Monday and Tuesday.  Their businesses were open, so many parents and fellow students came to see what they had for sale.  Many "barks" were spent there on some interesting items.  I thought it was great to see the variety of items that the students were selling.  This project provides a fun way for the students to learn a little bit about how a business works.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;Please be praying for our high school students.  They will be taking their final exams Wednesday through Friday this week.  Please also be in prayer for Mrs. Kimberly Scott.  She had hip replacement surgery on Friday. They were very excited on Monday when they realized it was their last "Monday of high school."  Mr. and Mrs. Whiteaker will be chaperoning the seniors on their trip to Florida this week.  Please be in prayer that everyone would be safe and have a great time as well.  &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;When I arrived at school on Wednesday and Thursday, it was strange to see so many people already at school.  The junior high and high school students signed up for their J-Term classes before school, and some of the students arrived at school very early in order to make sure they could sign up for their first choice in classes.  I am excited to see the variety of classes we have to offer this year.  J-Term will take place from June 7-11, so I will write more about it later.&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;The elementary/junior high sports banquet was held on Thursday evening.  It was a a special evening to celebrate the hard work and dedication of those involved.  The junior high softball and baseball teams had their last games of the season on Friday after school.  Both teams played hard and it was easy to see how much they had improved over the season. Despite the rainy weather, the students had a fun time seeing all of the different animals.  &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;The 5th and 6th grade students have been working on research reports for several months.  On Thursday afternoon, they invited their parents and the other elementary students to come see what they had learned.  &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;Everyone had a great time at the Walkathon on Friday.  It was a beautiful day to spend at the park.  I was impressed with how many miles some of the students walked.  After a picnic lunch, many of the students still had time to enjoy the playground until it was time to go back to school.  &lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;This week is the last full week of school for the seniors. I cannot believe how many things we had going on at Macomb Christian this week.  It was a very busy week, but it was also another great week.  On Wednesday, all of the elementary students participated in ACES (All Children Exercising Simultaneously).  From 10:00-10:15, the students went outside to run/walk around the school.  It was a beautiful day to be outside.&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;On Thursday, our students participated in 2 special events in honor of the National Day of Prayer.  The Spiritual Life Committee planned a special chapel for all of the secondary students.  The students led the entire chapel including devotionals, songs, and prayer time.  The elementary students participated in the city of Warren National Day of Prayer event by singing a song there.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span"  style="font-family:Arial, sans-serif;"&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span"  style="font-family:Georgia, serif;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span"  style="font-family:Arial, sans-serif;"&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span"  style="font-family:Georgia, serif;"&gt;Our 10th annual Celebration of the Arts was held on Friday.  This is probably one of my favorite events throughout the school year.  I love seeing all of the artwork hanging up around the school.  I also enjoy seeing each of the different groups perform the songs that they have spent so much time working on.  Miss Hafemeister and Mrs. Tucker spent many hours getting ready for this event, and I greatly appreciate all of their effort. These next few weeks of school are going to go by so quickly especially with all of the activities that will be taking place.  The drama department presented their play this weekend.  The students have been working hard for several months and they did a great job.  &lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;On Friday, twenty-eight of our secondary students participated in the Oakland Christian School Math Competition.  The students spent several hours taking math tests trying to get the best score.  Our Trigonometry students won first place.  Their trophy is in the front office.   Two students, Evan Yahr and Matt Hurst, also received ribbons for their individual scores.  &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;As I look ahead to next week, it will be a very busy week at Macomb Christian.  We will be having another open house on Monday from 6:00-8:00 pm.  Please invite people that you know to come look around the school; feel free to come show them around as well. &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;Mrs. Tucker and Miss Hafemeister will be very busy this week getting ready for Celebration of the Arts (COTA) on Friday. I truly enjoyed watching so many of our students use the gifts and talents that God has blessed them with.  It seemed like everyone had an enjoyable evening.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;The spring sports seasons are in full swing.  All of the teams are busy with practice and games most days after school.  The students seem to be enjoying themselves.  Thankfully, the weather has been fairly nice, too.&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;The drama department is getting ready for their spring production.  They will be performing &lt;i&gt;You Are Special&lt;/i&gt; and &lt;i&gt;You Are Mine &lt;/i&gt;by Max Lucado.  The performances are Friday, April 30 and Saturday, May 1 at 7:00 pm at MCS.  Hopefully, you will be able to come support the students.  &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;The journalism class has finished the yearbook, so the students have been writing a blog.  The blog can be accessed by going to the school website (www.MacombChristianSchools.org) and clicking on MCS Happenings under the Activities/Clubs tab. It seemed like it took several days for all of us to get back into the routine of getting up early and coming to school.  I loved that we were able to enjoy some beautiful weather this week.&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;There was a lot of anticipation in the library this week.  Mr. David Herlein and Mr. Gary Couture have been working very hard for several months trying to get the computerized card catalog system up and running in the library.  Many of you know that Mrs. Kuhnle has been working hard and waiting a long time for this to happen.  On Thursday afternoon, they were able to check out a book using the computerized system.  It was exciting to see the system working.  Mrs. Kuhnle will be testing the system with one elementary class to work out some of the glitches before using it with the whole school in the fall. The days before Easter break were busy days at Macomb Christian.  VIP Day on Thursday was definitely an exciting day.  Even as the students were arriving at school Thursday morning, I could sense the excitement that they all had.  VIP Day was a wonderful day that everyone seemed to enjoy.  I am looking forward to this becoming a tradition at MCS again.&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;This Tuesday will be another Tasty Tuesday sponsored by the Parent Teacher Congress (PTC).  This event will take place at the Applebee's at 12 Mile and Van Dyke and will be going on all day.  Remember to give your server a flier, so MCS will receive 15% of the proceeds.  There will also be a PTC meeting on Thursday evening.  This is a great opportunity for the parents and teachers to work together to find ways to share your ideas and help out.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;It is hard to believe that we will be entering into the final stretch of the school year tomorrow.  I am excited to see everyone again tomorrow. On Thursday evening we held our parent/teacher conferences.  Thank you so much to all of the parents that were able to attend.  Your attendance encourages our teachers.  It also reminds us that we are all working together to help the students be successful.  &lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;Saturday evening was the school talent show.  The freshmen class did a great job with this event especially since this was their first year organizing it.  I was so surprised to see all of the different acts.  The students did a great job using the gifts and talents that God has given to them.  &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;This coming week is sure to be another busy week at MCS.  The elementary students and teachers will be busy getting ready for VIP day on Thursday.  I am excited to see who the students are going to bring to school with them.  &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;I trust that this week will also be a time of reflection for all of us as we remember the great sacrifice that Jesus made for us. This school year has gone by quickly.  I am sure that the last quarter will be busy with all of the extra "end of the year" activities.&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;Thank you to all of the parents that have returned their surveys.  I greatly appreciate your input.  If you have not had an opportunity to fill them out and return them, please do so as soon as possible.  &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;I also wanted to remind you that parent/teacher conferences will be this Thursday from 6:00-8:00 pm.  Elementary teachers will be contacting you if they would like to set up a conference.  Parents may also request a conference with their child's teacher.  All of the secondary teachers will be available in the gym during conference time. The elementary students were so excited to go outside for recess to enjoy it, and I think the adults were excited to take them out.  Some of the P.E. classes also enjoyed going outside.  &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;Tuesday was another installment of "Tasty Tuesday."  This one was hosted by the EEC at Chuck E. Cheese.  Everyone had a great time.  Thank you to those of you who came out to support the EEC as they raise money for a new playground.&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;Early Friday morning several secondary students and parents headed out for the ACSI music festival in Illinois.  This provides an opportunity for our students to be apart of a band and choir with students from other Christian schools. There were many volunteers at school all week doing their part to help get things ready for the auction.  It was exciting to see all of the details come together.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;The weather was beautiful on Saturday as we had our 5th annual auction at Macomb Christian.  It was great to see so many of you at school enjoying all of the festivities.  I hope that you all had a great time.  As I walked around the silent auction, I was amazed at some of the incredible items that had been donated. It seemed like it took all of us several days to get back into the routine of waking up early after having the week off for winter break.  There were a few changes made at school over the break.  When you first walk in the front door, it is an obvious reminder that the auction is coming up.  There was also some painting done in the gym.  &lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;It was great to see such a big turnout for the blood drive on Thursday.  There was a steady crowd throughout the night.  The student/faculty games were held on Friday evening hosted by the sophomore class.  Everyone in attendance had a great time.  The jail was busy most of the night.  &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;I am sure that this week will be a busy week with all of the work being done to get ready for the auction on Saturday. We started out the week with our open house on Monday evening.  Thank you to those of you who invited people to the open house.  We had 24 families attend who were given the opportunity to have a tour of MCS and have some of their questions answered.  Please continue to tell people why you love Macomb Christian; you are the best method of advertising that we can find. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The Fine Arts Boosters hosted a "Tasty Tuesday" at Big Boy.  Despite the snowy weather, we had a great turn out and a lot of fun. I know that the students enjoyed their snow day on Wednesday based on the number of "thank you's" that I received.  The elementary students ended the week by celebrating Valentine's Day together. It was great to see how many students participated each day by dressing up according to the theme.  On Friday, almost everyone was wearing red, white, or blue.  The elementary students brought their noise makers to the pep rally to add to the excitement.  It was great to see so many of you come out to the homecoming game on Friday night wearing your red shirts. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Friday was also the day of the ACSI Spelling Bee.  We had 8 students represent Macomb Christian while competing against other ACSI schools.  Luke Soave in first grade won first place in his grade level.  Hannah Florendo (3rd grade) and Patrick Gibbs (6th grade) each won second place in their respective grade levels.  All of our students did a great job. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Thank you to all of you who brought in money that we will be sending to Haiti.  We are still working on counting all of the change that was brought in, but we were overwhelmed by how much we had.  Don't forget about the All School Meeting this Thursday, February 4th at 7:00 pm. This week I noticed that many students were finally easing back into the routine of coming to school.  It's a good thing too since this past week was a busy week.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Monday night we had a wonderful time of praising God for His many blessings and also praying for our school.  It was incredible to hear people share stories of how they have seen God working in their lives recently.  I feel blessed to work in a school where God is the focus of everything that we do.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Tuesday we held our school spelling bee.  The winners and runners-up from 5th-8th grade competed against one another.  Jacob Patterson won the spelling bee, and Hadiya Knight was the runner-up for the school.  Tuesday night was another installment of "Tasty Tuesday" at Del Taco.  Many of you have commented how busy it was when you stopped by.  I am sure the junior high students are grateful for all who came out to help them raise money for their trip to camp.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Friday night all of the senior athletes were honored between the basketball games.  Once all the athletes were out on the court with their parents, I was surprised to see that most of the students in the senior class play at least one sport.  It was also great to see so many people come to show their support to the teams. I am so excited to be starting a new year even though it is in the middle of our school year.  It was great to see everyone back at Macomb Christian ready to start the 2nd semester.  I think it took all of us a few days to get back into our routine of getting up early, but hopefully, we are all ready to start another week.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Last week was a fairly quiet week.  All of the basketball teams had their first home games of the season. Looking ahead to this week, we have the Prayer and Praise Celebration on Monday night at 7:00 pm.  Please join us as we thank God for all He has done for us.  Tuesday night is our next "Tasty Tuesday" event.  The junior high students are hosting this event at Del Taco on Hoover. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Many of you have been asking how you can help Macomb Christian, and I have a few suggestions.  Pray!  Pray that we will continually seek God's direction and what He has planned for MCS.  We have all seen the power of prayer, and I don't want us to ever stop praying.  Secondly, Macomb Christian has a wish list on Amazon.com. There has been a lot of excitement around the school these past few weeks as the students have finished up the first semester.  I trust that the break from school will be a time of refreshment for all of you. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I want to thank all of your for your prayers and support.  All of the faculty and staff greatly appreciate all that you do for us.  A special “thank you” to those of you who purchased items for the school from our Amazon wish list.  The teachers who received the items from their wish list were very excited.  I would also like to thank those of you who have been making donations to help the Early Education Center raise money for a new playground. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;There are a few important dates coming up that I wanted to make you aware of.  On Monday, January 11, 2010, at 7:00 PM, there will be another prayer/praise celebration at the school.  So many of us enjoyed this event over the summer that we thought it would be great to do it again.  Our school has much to be grateful for this year!  On Thursday, February 4, 2010,  at 7:00 PM, there will be an all-school meeting. Randy Speck, Kent Darcie, and I will speak and be available for questions.  It will be an important opportunity for all of you to hear the vision that we have for Macomb Christian.  We are all busy making plans for next year and the next few years, and we want to share those with you.  You will also be able to pick up re-enrollment information and a basic, tentative 2010-2011 school calendar. The elementary students had a great time at the Christmas Shop.  Each student had an opportunity to go down to the library and shop for Christmas presents.  I saw many students walking back to class with their arms full of shopping bags.  Many thanks to all of the parents that volunteered their time to help make the Christmas Shop such a success!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The seniors also had another pancake breakfast on Wednesday.  The seniors were up bright and early to cook all of the pancakes and sausage.  Many people came out to support them as they are trying to raise money to help with the cost of their senior trip.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The secondary students are busy finishing up the first semester.  The high school students will start taking exams on Tuesday.  Friday after school I saw many students rushing around turning in their assignments and extra credit that were due.  The elementary students are busy getting ready for their Christmas concert on Tuesday. I hope that all of you enjoyed the Thanksgiving holiday last week.  It is truly a blessing to talk with people at MCS and to hear all the things they are thankful for.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;This past Thursday evening we held our first Christmas concert for this year.  All of the band students and the secondary choir students performed the songs they had been working on.  Each of the groups performed a few songs that reminded us all of what the Christmas season is truly about.  They also had some fun as well.  I really enjoyed listening to all of the performances.  It was evident that the students and Miss Hafemeister had worked hard in preparation for the concert. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The students and teachers are all hard at work finishing up the first semester. As you can see, there was a lot of food donated. Thank you so much to those who donated items. It was incredible&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;to see how much food was brought in. Your generosity is greatly appreciated. &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;The seniors were busy this week getting ready for their play. It was great to see so many of you come out to show your support. I also enjoyed seeing the elementary students that were involved in the play. Mrs. Langer and her many volunteers worked hard to get everything ready. I know that it was a lot of work, but it seemed like everyone enjoyed working on the play.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;I am sure that all of you are busy getting ready for Thanksgiving this week. I am truly thankful that God has chosen to bless Macomb Christian by allowing our ministry to continue. I am also grateful to all of you for your support of the school. This past Monday, the faculty and staff met together with Randy Speck to continue working on improving Macomb Christian.  I would like to thank those of you that took the time to fill out the survey that Randy sent out.  The information collected will be very helpful.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Friday afternoon the elementary students enjoyed playing games together.  As a reward for all of the Box Tops they brought in, the elementary students spent the last hour of the day playing different board games in the gym.  It was neat to walk around and see the different games that the students brought in.  There were many games that I had never seen before. This school year is going by so fast.  This was another busy week at Macomb Christian. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The varsity volleyball team had an exciting week.  They beat Merritt Academy on Wednesday night to advance to the district finals for the third year in a row.  On Friday, the girls played Parkway in a tough game.  Unfortunately, our team did not win, but the girls played an incredible game. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The seniors are continuing to practice &lt;em&gt;The Wizard of Oz&lt;/em&gt;.  They are busy practicing their lines and singing their songs.  The sets are being worked on.  Some of the elementary students are also getting involved.  The dates of their performances are November 20-21. The junior high students went to Central Detroit Christian where they were busy breaking up cement, lifting heavy boxes and bricks, and painting. The freshmen went to Grace Centers of Hope where they helped to prepare and serve lunch. The sophomores stayed in Warren cleaning up Martin Road and the school property.  The juniors went to God's Helping Hand in Rochester Hills where they were busy sorting through clothes that had been donated. The seniors helped Habitat for Humanity as they are preparing their new warehouse. &lt;div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;Throughout the day, I went around to all of the various sites. I was so excited to see our students helping others. It was incredible to see how much fun our students were having. I had one student tell me that they want to do it again in the spring.  God blessed us with a beautiful day especially for the students who spent most of the day outside.  I was so proud of our students for being willing to help out and do whatever was needed. It was great to see so many of you at school on Thursday and Friday for parent teacher conferences and the book fair.  Thanks to all of you who volunteered your time at the book fair and the bake sale. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I am very excited for this coming week.  On Wednesday, our secondary students will be out in the community doing different service projects.  As Christians, we are called to help each other, so I am excited for our students to have an opportunity to give back.  I can't wait to hear the stories from our students about their different experiences.  Please be in prayer for this event. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It is hard to believe that this is the last week of October.  As I look outside, it is beautiful to see all of the different colors. This school year is going by so fast. I do love this time of year though! I love driving around and seeing the leaves on the trees changing color. It is a wonderful reminder of our incredible Creator that we serve.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Last Tuesday was another Tasty Tuesday at American Pie.  All proceeds are going to help with the high school year-end trip.  The elementary students are holding a contest with Box Tops for Education.  Each box top that is brought in gives 10 cents back to the school so keep sending them in.  There are a lot of updates and information given on the school website so make it a habit to check it out. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;This Thursday and Friday we will be having parent teacher conferences. Elementary conferences are scheduled with the teacher. All of the secondary teachers will be available in the gym from 1:30-4:45 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday and then again from 9:00-11:30 a.m. on Friday. It was a great opportunity for us to be encouraged and challenged. We were able to meet people from many Christian schools and share ideas. It was incredible to be with over 1200 other people who are also working hard to make their Christian schools the places that God wants them to be.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;On Wednesday the seniors hosted their first pancake breakfast of the school year. Many of you turned out to help support the seniors as they raise money for their trip. There will be more pancake breakfasts throughout the school year so be watching for those dates.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;This Tuesday will be another "Tasty Tuesday." The high school student council will be hosting a fundraiser at American Pie at 12 Mile and Hoover. The money raised will be used to help off set the cost of the year end trip for the high school students. It is hard to believe that September is finished.  This school year seems to be flying by.  I had a great lunch on Wednesday with the 16 elementary students who completed the summer reading challenge.  These students read 6 books over the summer from a variety of genres and wrote a short summary of each book.  We had a great time on Wednesday eating lunch together and talking about books.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The varsity soccer team played an exciting game on Monday.  Despite the cold, windy weather, they were able to win the game.  The varsity volleyball team also had a victory on Thursday night.  It was a great week for sports at MCS.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I hope that all of the students enjoyed their extra day off on Friday.  The teachers spent the day learning from a curriculum taught by Jeff Myers.  It was a very interesting seminar that I think many of them found beneficial. The senior class went to a local church to help with a program that brings public school students to the church to hear the gospel message.  Our seniors went on Thursday when there were about 300 public school students in attendance.  The seniors were able to interact with these kids and lead small group discussions.  I hope that this is just the beginning.  I would love to see our students get more involved in the community. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Mrs. Dubois' class finished reading &lt;em&gt;The Boxcar Children&lt;/em&gt; with a special day this week.  They enjoyed a special lunch on Wednesday.  The students also made special projects that are on display in the library. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It is hard to believe that this week will be the end of September.  I am so grateful that God has allowed MCS to be open for this school year.  I love walking around the school and seeing all of the students busy working.  I love walking into the library and seeing the elementary students take their AR quizzes.  I love walking down the hallway and seeing the incredible artwork that our students have created. We had our first fire drill of the school year on Wednesday morning.  It was a beautiful day, so it seemed like the perfect day for a fire drill.  I think that it might take all of us some time to remember what we are supposed to do during a fire drill. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;On Thursday, I attended an ACSI (Association of Christian Schools International) district meeting.  Sam Barfell, our regional director, came to Michigan to meet with the administrators from all of the Christian schools in Michigan.  It was a great opportunity for me to meet other Christian school leaders and to share ideas.  I was also able to learn about updates from ACSI and the services that they offer. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Thank you to those of you that have been helping out with the preschool playground.  We have had volunteers digging out the grass underneath the swings so that wood chips can be placed there.  I am grateful to those of you who are willing to help out wherever we need it. After having three short weeks, it seems like everyone is getting into the routine of being back at school after having time off for the summer.  I have really been enjoying the beautiful weather that we have had the past couple of weekends.  It has been great to get outside and enjoy God's beautiful creation. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Friday was a busy day at school.  We started the day with chapel.  The elementary students enjoyed listening to Mr. Orner, and the secondary students were challenged by Mr. Speck.  The first and second grade students had a fun afternoon making creation cupcakes.  They even made one for me! &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Many of you are familiar with Jeremiah 29:11.  It is probably one of my favorite verses.  It is very reassuring to me knowing that God has a plan for me.  I was reading it recently and noticed that verses 12 and 13 are also very powerful.  They say, "Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.  You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart."  My prayer for the students and families of MCS is that all of us would be earnestly seeking God.  I want us to remember all that God has done for our school. This school year is off to a great start!  We had a great turn out at Big Boy last night.  Thanks to all of you who came out to support our 4th -6th grade students as they were earning money for their year-end trip. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I continue to be amazed at the amount of prayer support I have.  It is an incredible encouragment to me knowing that I am being prayed for and supported by so many of you.
